Central Texas Military History Symposium

About the Symposium

Central Texas Military History Symposium Logo The Central Texas Military History Symposium at Texas A&M University- Central Texas serves as a local and regional event promoting the study of history of warfare and its influences on society. The Symposium's main goal is to provide the people of Central Texas and our students with access to the nation's top scholars in military history. Each year our attendance numbers have increased and with help from you, the community, the CTMHS can continue to grow and offer new and exciting opportunities to our students and Central Texas.

Now in its twelfth year, The Central Texas Military History Symposium hosts nationally prominent military historians. Two past presidents of the Society for Military History have been keynote speakers: Dennis Showalter of Colorado College and Brian Linn of Texas A&M University. We have also hosted high ranking military officers, such as Lt. Gen. Dave Palmer (USA Retired). Palmer is a past superintendent of West Point and author of several acclaimed works of military history. Two Pulitzer Prize nominees have been speakers: Richard McCaslin and Lewis Sorley.
