University Writing Center

For Writers of All Ability Levels and All Stages of the Writing Process!

The University Writing Center (UWC) is open to writers of all levels and abilities during any stage of the writing process. By providing a practice audience for students’ ideas and writing, our tutors highlight the ways in which they read and interpret students’ texts, offering guidance and support throughout the writing process. In every session, tutors strive to offer some practical feedback and assistance to the issues that most frustrate students’ writing so that each student leaves our sessions ready to write and revise more effectively. Whether you need help brainstorming ideas, organizing an essay, proofreading, understanding proper citation practices, or just want an extra set of eyes on your writing, the UWC is here to help!

We look forward to working with you to help you achieve all of your writing goals!

“Maybe in a perfect world, all writers would have their own ready auditor—a teacher, a classmate, a roommate, an editor—who would not only listen but draw them out, ask them questions they would not think to ask themselves. A writing center is an institutional response to this need.”

—Stephen North, “The Idea of a Writing Center”
